The most valuable asset in any organisation is their Human Capital. Whilst products can be copied and pricing can be competitive to the point of being aggressive the main differentiator is the organisational culture which is embodied within the people they employ.

It is essential, therefore, that at Senior Management and Board level all aspects of Human Resource Management is professionalised and essential data captured, monitored, mitigated and reported upon.

The HR Dashboard concept elevates the profile of Human Resources (HR) and gives clear focus to the impact, both positively and negatively, on the operational effectiveness, performance and profitability within the organisation. 

We have designed the HR Dashboard concept using the cockpit of a plane, where there are several monitoring dials that indicate the airworthiness of a flight.  HR requires the skill of being able to identify which dial to focus on at any point in time, in order to deliver on their HR strategy.

The flight analogy comprises of 5 elements:-   

  1. Flight Plan – These are the core underpinning documents of the organisation that in essence represent the direction in which it is heading and the methods it intends to deploy e.g. Strategic Plan, HR Policy Manual.

  2. Speed – This speaks to the structure of the organisation and its ability to respond to people related dynamics e.g. HR team size and cost, HR Technology.

  3. Altitude – Looking at the organisational culture and the emphasis placed on treating employees as a valued asset e.g. Values, IR.

  4. Fuel – Here the emphasis is on better understanding all of the strategies and policies relating to employees as the main powerhouse of the organisation e.g. Training Plan, Performance Management System & Practice.

  5. Early Warning System – These are a range of lag indicators that cross reference to previous elements and help validate or quantify the organisational adherence to the key drivers e.g. Recruitment lag, wasteful expenditure.
